Project

The COLOMBO HEBREO SCHOOL, in its ongoing effort to modernize its educational facilities, has enlisted the expertise of Architect Aaron Cohen to redesign the entire campus. A key challenge of this initiative is the integration of ochre-colored architectural concrete across all components of the campus.

To meet these architectural requirements, the School has partnered with PENTA Engineers, a subsidiary of SRC Civil Engineers, known for their extensive experience in the construction sector. PENTA Engineers is currently collaborating on the project, overseeing everything from the initial structural design to the final delivery. The project entails the transformation of the school's facilities, covering an area of 4500 square meters, including the creation of a secure main entrance and over 3000 square meters of green spaces.

Project challenges and key drivers

The project faces several challenges and key drivers that are essential for its successful execution:

• Ensuring the geometry and quality of structural elements in alignment with architectural parameters.

• Coordinating the project execution among various contractors responsible for structure, finishes, and installations.

• Upholding industrial safety and environmental considerations as fundamental parameters throughout the project lifecycle.

Ensuring the uninterrupted functionality of the school during construction, while implementing stringent safety controls to safeguard the well-being of all stakeholders

Your award-worthy contribution, achievement, new technique or process

A team composed of architects, contractors, concrete suppliers, and formwork suppliers was assembled to ensure the aesthetic outcome aligned with architectural parameters, without neglecting technical considerations necessary to achieve the desired color, dimensions, and finishes outlined in the initial design.

Acknowledging that the distinctive ochre-colored concrete would necessitate special handling procedures and precise discharge methods employing concrete pumps and tower cranes, effective coordination among the various disciplines was imperative to achieve an exceptional final finish.
