Our Steering Committee

Our elected, truly diverse Steering Committee consists of members from 8 different countries, currently practicing construction project management in 10 major cities around the world including Denver & New York/ USA, Hamburg & Munich/ Germany, Porto/ Portugal, Lausanne/ Switzerland, Madrid / Spain, London and Leeds/ UK, and Naxos/ Greece. Most of us have practiced internationally and gained experience around the globe, widening our network and horizon.

Raquel Campos e Matos - Porto, Portugal our President

Starting her professional life in structural engineering design, with contact with architects, clients and other engineer teams, Raquel soon realised the excitement of project management. Good communication; the construction of trustful relations; the need to analyse the facts from a wider perspective and to take decisions and define strategies were the most meaningful topics for her from the outset. Joining ICPMA, following the lead of her visionary father Antonio Campos e Matos. Raquel was instrumental for organising the recent conference in Porto, in 2022, and is honour to be President in 2024.

Lola Ripolles - London, UK our Senior Vice President

Lola joined ICPMA a number of years ago when work was getting quite hectic and found it fantastic to discover that there was a group of professionals having the same interests as her. Lola’s international career had made her many new colleagues and she wanted to share experiences. ICPMA was the key, offering the discussion forum she was seeking along with great friends to share special moments together. Lola was instrumental in organising the most successful Madrid conference in 2015 and enjoys contributing to the Steering Committee, as senior vice-president.

Hargeet Kaur - Munich, Germany  our Executive Officer 

Hargeet is a Civil Engineer and holds a masters degree in Construction and Real Estate Management. She currently works as a Construction Project Manager in Germany for corporate development and is also enthusiastic about the digital transformation in the AECO industry, and the revolution it has brought to CPM practices.

Philip Sander - Munich, Germany our Immediate Past President

Philip is Managing Director at RiskConsult. He supports owners and contractors in the areas of cost and risk management, construction and organisation processes, and software development. Philip studied Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Dresden (MSc) and received his PhD at the University of Innsbruck (Probabilistic Risk Analysis for Construction Projects). He started his professional career at Grinaker LTA in South Africa. After gaining experience at Hochtief in Essen, Germany and at CPM in Stuttgart he joined the team of RiskConsult in 2006. Since 2019 he is also Head of the Department of Construction Management at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich. Philip was elected ICPMA Vice President in 2020, Senior Vice President in 2021, and President in 2022.

Michel-Jan Van Mark- Laussane, Switzerland our Treasurer

Michel-Jan Van Mark studied civil engineering at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne). He is an Expert at pom+consulting AG, lausanne Switzerland.

He is a team lead for private and institutional investors in the field of real estate, Asset and Portfolio analysis and optimization (transaction, development, construction, operation), Workspace transformation, digital real estate strategies.

Eleni Vasiloudi - Greece, Naxos our YICPMA Representative

Eleni is a Project Management Consultant with an academic background in the built environment, holding a 5-year Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning (AUTh, Greece) and an MSc in Project and Enterprise Management (UCL, UK). She is particularly passionate about the design and development phases of a project and it is her belief that teamwork and collaboration are key for delivering value. Eleni worked in London for several years before returning to her home country Greece.

Eleni has been elected as the YICPMA Representative.

Robert Bennett - New York City, USA

Robert has been fortunate to work in the Engineering and Construction Management field for 44 years. As a young child he was in the Boy Scouts growing up in New York and was told by the scoutmasters to always leave the campground cleaner than when he first arrived. For him, the same holds true in life, in that we must each try to make the world a little better during our short time here. Robert has been an ICPMA member since 2006 after attending the annual conference in Bern, Switzerland. He believes truly that ICPMA is an organisation that strives to ‘make the campground cleaner’ for this very special profession. Robert was the ICPMA Treasurer between 2019 and 2022.

Peter Day - Leeds, UK 

Peter is a chartered construction project manager and has experience managing projects in the UK and Middle East. He was the project manager for the delivery of the world’s first 3D printed ‘Office of the Future’ in Dubai, which won the ICPMA Innovation and Quality (IQ) Award in 2018. 

Peter enjoys engaging with people from different corners of the world, with the aim to share knowledge and success. He has lived in the United Arab Emirates with his wife and 2 young children for several years and is now back in the UK since 2022.

Peter joined the Steering Committee in 2021, and was Treasurer between 2022 and 2024.

Daniel A. Castro - Denver, USA 

Daniel A. Castro is an experienced Construction Project Manager with over a decade of expertise in managing multimillion-dollar projects across the U.S. and internationally. His work spans build-to-suit, redevelopment, and renovation projects, with strengths in project management, pre-sales, sales, capital raising, and strategic partnerships. Holding an MBA, PMP, CSM, and CM-Lean, Daniel excels in Lean Construction, Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), and Agile methodologies to drive efficiency and collaboration.

 

Aside from being a Project Manager, Daniel is the proud husband of Natalia and father of Simon and Mateo. He is widely known as "El Oso" (The Bear), and is passionate about startups, racing cars, and chess.

This is how the ICPMA is organised

The  ICPMA is primarily a professional networking and business generation organisation with aims to improve construction project management practice through the exchange of ideas and experience. The ICPMA is run by volunteers and operates on a not-for-profit basis.

We have summarised the organisation, structure and management responsibilities of the ICPMA and YICPMA in our organisational policy to enable a strong and successful succession plan and smooth operation of the association for the benefit of its membership.
