At present our work is concentrated on three topics which comprise most of CPM´s complexity and which we feel will determine the development of CPM in the next decades. These three themes are

  • CPM of large infrastructure projects in urban areas

with all its complexity in design and construction under operation of existing utility and transport systems, often in historical environment and the people living, suffering and benefitting from such projects, with many project stakeholders involved, public and private leading to the constant need of multiple interface management and permanent balancing of interests. This theme will also address the interlinking of current projects with the aim of ensuring that the urban area can continue to operate at an acceptable economic, environmental and social level for the duration of the infrastructural works.

  • Green Building

with all its implications on the various fields of design, construction and operation of buildings and plants, with new paradigms and standards coming up for life cycle consideration determining the management of projects in development and design, enhancing new technologies in energy supply, HVAC, IT applications in buildings and in changing  economic factors and political awareness.

  • Public Private Partnership (PPP)
symbolizing a complete system of contractual and managerial settings for projects involving the public and the private sector in manifold forms of organisation, extremely complex contractual relations and risk sharing between many project parties, with many implications on CPM, contract management, commercial project administration, and with innovation evolving from the competitiveness in such projects. This theme will include the comparative deployment of PPP strategies between different jurisdictions and the critical success factors that must be taken into account when considering the use of PPP as a procurement strategy.
