International Construction Project Management Forum (ICPMF)
The ICPM Forum meets annually to define a long-term development of a Best Practice-Model for International construction project management achievements including professional service charges.
In direct relation to present modifications in the German construction management industry, the DVP welcomes an exchange of information with other nations through the Construction Management and Guaranteed-Maximum-Price-Contracts.
This involves discussions regarding current regulations and applied project management practices with representatives of International construction project management organisations and suppliers.
The 1st Forum, named “International Construction Project Management 2001” took place in Cannes, France on 18th and 19th March 2001. This Forum was held in connection with the MIPIM (an annual real estate exhibition).
The participants of this 1st Forum represented leading professional associations from Germany, Great Britain, Spain and the USA as well as enterprises and universities from Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
Initially national participants presented their own countries current situation and recognisable trends in building project management (Construction-PM). The key issues to come out of the conference; included achievement, service charges along with professional regulations and philosophies based on construction project management.
A vital element to the forum is the definition of a unified terminology, which will form the basis of the further work of this International forum.
Finally working groups were established, which will work on topics such as
- Forms of contracts
- Training and further education
- Certificates/ diplomas
- Knowledge within the construction project management.
These working groups will present their work at the next forum on 21st June 2002 in London.
The next step for the future planned meetings is to include selected contractors for their own opinions. The publication for the 1st ICPM Forum can be ordered from the DVP Publisher.
